Texas Whole Wheat Kolaches

Ingredients

Recipe makes 18 Servings

1/4 Oz active dry yeast
1/2 cup(s) 0 calorie sweetener
1/2 cup(s) extra virgin olive oil
1/2 Tsp kosher salt
1 large egg, beaten
1 1/4 cup(s) whole wheat flour
1 1/4 cup(s) King Arthur Bread Flour
1 butter flavored non-stick spray
1/2 cup(s) sugar free jelly

Instructions

Combine yeast with 1/2 cup warm water (115 deg. F ). Let mixture stand for 10 minutes until yeast foams.

Combine sweetener, olive oil, salt, egg, yeast mixture, and flours in a mixer bowl. Beat for 2 minutes.

Knead dough for 4 minutes. Place dough in a bowl coated with nonstick cooking spray, cover and let double in size.

Punch dough down and knead for 3 to 4 minutes.

Roll out dough to 1/2 inch thickness, cut 2-inch squares or rounds, place on a greased pan, spray with butter nonstick cooking spray, cover with a towel and let rise for 25 minutes.

Heat oven to 350°F.

Make a dent in center of each kolache.

Fill with 1 teaspoon of your favorite fruit spread or jelly and bake for 20 minutes.
