English Muffin Brisket Burger

Ingredients

Recipe makes 4 Servings

1 Tsp kosher salt, plus more as needed to taste
1 1/2 Tsp cracked black pepper, plus more as needed
1 Lb H-E-B Ground Brisket for Burgers
4 slices center cut bacon
4 H-E-B Texas Sized English Muffins, cut in half
1 cup(s) Gruyère cheese, shredded or thinly sliced, plus more as needed

Instructions

Place a large cast iron skillet over medium-high heat and allow it to get hot. Meanwhile prepare meat.

In a bowl, combine salt, pepper and ground brisket, mix well to combine and form into four burger patties. Allow to come to room temperature.

Place bacon in the preheated skillet and cook until just crispy, flipping as needed until fully cooked. Remove to drain on paper towels then break bacon strips in half.

Leave grease in pan, lower heat and place burger patties in pan.

Cook 5 to 7 minutes per side, depending on thickness and desired degree of doneness. Remove to a plate to rest.

Place English muffins cut-side down in the same pan and cook until just toasted, approximately 2 to 4 minutes.

To assemble, place burgers on bottom halves of toasted muffins then add cheese, bacon and top halves of muffins.

Chef's Note: This burger is all about layering flavor and cooking everything in the same pan. I like to garnish my burger with pickled red onions and ketchup.
