Lemon Charred Broccolini

1 Lb fresh broccolini, woody ends trimmed from stems
1/4 cup(s) olive oil
1 small lemon
1 Tbsp fresh basil, finely chopped
1/2 Tsp sea salt
1/2 Tsp black pepper, freshly ground

Heat grill to medium-high.

Wash broccolini and pat dry gently with paper towels. Place in a large bowl and drizzle with oil.

Zest lemon and sprinkle 1 teaspoon of fresh lemon zest over broccolini. (Reserve lemon for garnish and finishing dish.)

Grill broccolini until bright green and tender firm, about 5 to 7 minutes. Turn frequently to get a nice char. To avoid over-cooking, remove smaller, thinner stalks as they become tender firm.

Remove to a serving platter and add a little squeeze of fresh lemon juice (no more than 1 teaspoon). Sprinkle with fresh basil and season with salt and pepper.

Chef's note: This is a great side dish or even an appetizer. Set a platter out and watch this disappear.
