Homemade Cheese Stuffed Tater Tots

Recipe makes 4 Servings

1 Lb Ore-Ida Shredded Hash Brown Potatoes, thawed completely in fridge
1/4 cup(s) all purpose flour
1 Tsp kosher salt
1/2 Tsp black pepper
1/4 Tsp garlic powder
1 cup(s) H‑E‑B Select Ingredients Mild Cheddar Thick Cut Shreds, as needed
4 cup(s) vegetable oil, for frying

Instructions

In a large bowl, combine potatoes, flour, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Combine with hands until all hash browns are well coated.

Spoon a heaping tablespoon of potato mixture into palm of your hand and flatten with other hand. Place a few shreds of cheese in center of flattened potato mixture then top with a pinch more of mixture and form into the shape of a tater tot.

Arrange completed tater tots on sheet tray or large plate.

Once all tater tots have been formed, place in freezer 10 to 15 minutes.

Meanwhile, place oil in a medium saucepan and heat over medium-high.

Fry tater tots, depending on size, 4 to 6 at a time, 3 to 4 minutes or until golden brown.

Serve fries with queso, ketchup or chili.

Chef's Note: These tater tots are about twice the size of a normal tater tot and are a great appetizer to make a head of time.
