School Survival Kit

Almost all of the time, things go off without a hitch. Your kiddo makes it to school on time, they pack their lunch, and they remember to eat breakfast. But for those moments when your high schooler or middle schooler finds herself in a sticky situation, it can be smart to be overly prepared.

That's why DIY High School SOS (Save Our Students!) kits are worth investing some time into before the first day of school. It’s good to teach your tweens and teens to be prepared for when little annoyances occur. And best yet? You can make a party out of it! Read on for full high school survival kit instructions.

What You'll Need:

  • A Pencil Box or Cosmetic Bag
  • Travel-Sized Deodorant
  • Travel-Sized Mouthwash
  • Hair Ties
  • Mascara
  • Gum
  • Contact Case
  • Lip Balm
  • Hand Sanitizer
  • Fun-Sized Chocolates
  • Paint Pens
  • Stickers

How You'll Do It:

  1. One mom will be the host of the SOS Kit assembling party and will send out assignments to the other moms. For instance: Each mom should be in charge of bringing a certain number of supplies to fill each student’s box (if 12 girls come to the party, each mom should buy 12 lip balms, for instance) and should supply advice on when to use each item in a jam. Each student should come with their own pencil box or cosmetics bag to be filled throughout the party.
  2. At the party, let your teens and tweens have it and decorate their box or bag with paint pens, permanent markers or even stickers to their liking.
  3. Once the outside is adorned, each mom should go in a circle, read their advice for the students, and place one item in each person's box.
  4. Once all the items are divvied up, your ultra-prepared students are ready for their first day. Make sure they store their SOS kit in their locker or a safe place for when life's little annoyances strike.
