Must Try Fall Brews
October isn't just about Halloween. The air is cool, football season is in full swing and the seasonal beers have arrived. They come in wits, ales and Oktoberfest styles. Not sure where to start? Try these four staff favorites from H-E-B.

Real Ale, Oktoberfest If you pour this Märzen style beer in a frosty glass, expect love at first sight. The beautiful copper color is a nice welcome to the fall season. This particular Oktoberfest has a Texas twist. It's on the lighter side, which makes it great for the warmer Texas fall.

Saint Arnold, Oktoberfest This is a great introduction ale for non-beer enthusiasts. This Oktoberfest has hints of caramel and was blended with three different malts to give it a rich and full-bodied taste. This particular seasonal won a silver medal at the 2010 Great American Beer Festival in the Scottish-style ale category.
Try with fried or crispy potato dishes or roasted turkey and spicy sausage. |

Abita Satsuma, Harvest Wit With a taste of citrus, this wit falls along the lines of Blue Moon or Hoegaarden. It pours out a delightful orange color. It's not overwhelming and has a great crisp taste. It's so refreshingly light that it's perfect for the last round of backyard parties or tailgating.

Blue Moon, Harvest Moon Looking for a middle ground between the sweet seasonal and spiced pumpkin seasonal? Harvest Moon might be the brew of choice. It has hints of clove, nutmeg and allspice but an overall pumpkin finish. It's smooth and leaves a light lingering taste of fall flavors.
Try with turkey, sweet potatoes or beef dishes. |
