Blueberry Guide

Now through June, Texas blueberries are at their peak of sunny flavor and freshness in your H-E-B Produce Department. They're delicious and full of antioxidants.

H-E-B sells more Texas-grown blueberries than anyone else! The climate, weather and soil make our state one of the best regions in the world for growing these super fruits. Since they are harvested right here at home, they're in our stores the very next day, making your produce department akin to a farmer's market!

H-E-B always looks to our Texas growers for fresh local produce. That's why we get 30 tons of fresh blueberries from Creekwood Farms. Mike Beard has been growing blueberries for more than 20 years.

"We have a long-term relationship with H-E-B, they've made a commitment to Texas freshness and we've made a commitment to Texas customers—we've come up with a really good team. Only my best berries make it to H-E-B.” Mike Beard, Creekwood Farms, TX

“H-E-B's relationship with Mike Beard has been great, he's worked really hard to develop great tasting blueberries for our customers. What's great about Texas blueberries is that it's coming right from our backyard, it’s picked, packed and shipped right to our stores within a days’ time.”  David Figliola, H-E-B Produce Buyer & Connoisseur of Blueberries

How to Select
Look for blueberries in stain-free containers that have a uniform color and aren't bruised or damaged.

How to Store
Refrigerate unwashed blueberries in a tightly covered container for up to ten days.

If you choose to freeze your blueberries, choose ones that are ripe but not mushy. Rinse the blueberries gently and let them dry before freezing. Place them in a freezer bag and remove excess air before sealing the bag. Store the blueberries in the freezer up to a year.
