Why is sunscreen important?
No matter your skin type, sunscreen helps protect you from the harmful effects of UVA and UVB rays can lead to premature signs of aging and skin cancer. UVB rays can lead to sunburn and skin cancer.
What is SPF?
SPF (Sun Protection Factor) measures how long your skin will be protected from UVB rays. SPF 15 protects your skin 15 times longer than if you had no sunscreen on your skin. The higher the SPF number, the longer your skin is protected before it begins to burn.
When and how much sunscreen should I apply?
Sunscreen should be applied frequently and liberally to cover all exposed parts of your body. Be sure to cover places that are commonly missed, ears, behind the neck and the tops of your feet. Apply sunscreen 15 minutes prior to sun exposure and reapply about every two hours. Use at least one ounce of sunscreen, this is about the size of a golf ball, to cover an average adults arms and legs. Experts recommend a family use one full bottle of sunscreen while enjoying a day's worth of outdoor activities.
