Description

Tangy and mild, this sauce is made with tomatillos, pumpkin seeds, pureed jalapeños and poblanos, peanuts, sesame seeds, garlic and spices.     Water, Crushed Green Tomatoes, Tomatillo Puree, Pumpkin Seed, Jalapeño Puree (Green Jalapeño Peppers, Vinegar), Salt, Poblano Puree (Roasted Poblano Peppers, Water), Dried Onion, Soybean Oil, Corn Starch, Toasted Sesame Seed, Roasted Peanut, Dried Garlic, White Vinegar, Black Pepper, Spinach Powder, Xanthan Gum, Dried Oregano, Cumin Powder.

  • Shake well before opening. Pour mole sauce into a saucepan. Warm over medium heat and serve over meat or vegetables.

    Pan-Seared Chicken Thighs with Verde Mole
    Makes 4 servings

    1 lb skin-on, bone-in chicken thighs (about 4)
    Kosher salt
    Ground pepper
    1 Tbsp canola oil
    16 oz H-E-B Mi Tienda Verde Mole Sauce
    1 Tbsp white sesame seeds (optional)

    Heat oil in a large skillet on medium-high heat. Pat chicken thighs dry with paper towels and season with salt and pepper on both sides. Place chicken skin side down into skillet. Sear chicken until skin is golden brown (5 – 6 minutes). Flip chicken over and continue to cook for an additional 5 – 6 minutes. Pour mole sauce directly into the skillet, bring to a simmer, then reduce heat to medium. Adjust sauce thickness with water or broth if needed. Cover and cook until the chicken's internal temperature reaches 165°F (5 - 10 minutes). Serve with mole sauce on top and garnish with sesame seeds.
