One of the many legends surrounding Saint Arnold (Arnulf) of Metz was that, a prayer from a parched parishioner from Metz was answered with an overflowing pot of beer. Like its namesake, Saint Arnold Brewing Company, has been answering the prayers of Texans for life-sustaining beer since 1994.

Award-winning Beer, Year after Year
Saint Arnold has been winning awards large and small: Two 1st places at the Colorado State Fair their first year, three coveted golds at the prestigious World Beer Cup, and some 30 other medals at numerous other national festivals and championships nearly every year since 1994. In 2010, they took home three medals from the Great American Beer Festival. Favorites include:
-
Fancy Lawnmower: This Gold Medal recipient in the 2010 Great American Beer Festival is a German-style Kölsch. That aside, it's probably their best seller because of a light, clean, citrusy flavor that cuts right through the Texas heat.
-
Amber Ale: Saint Arnold's very first brew is still an annual favorite. The caramel maltiness has a light fruitiness typical of ambers.
-
Elissa IPA: Another heat buster, this India Pale Ale is bitter and hoppy, just like you'd expect.
Making Texas Better
For Brock Wagner, Brewer/Founder, it's not just about making really great beer. His goal and part of Saint Arnold's mission is to make his adopted hometown of Houston—and by extension the entire state—a better place to live. With that in mind, it's easy to understand why everyone in Texas seems to be sporting a signature tie dye t-shirt. Saint Arnold's supports local art, music and non-profits in spades:
-
MS-150: In 2003, a fan of Saint Arnold's registered them as an MS-150 bike team without permission. So Saint Arnold's jumped in with both feet. In 2011, the Saint Arnold's team has over 400 riders and an achievable goal to raise $200,000 for Multiple Sclerosis.
-
One Pot Showdown: Since 2007, the brewery has been hosting a cook-off to raise money for a local charity. In year's past, it's been for the Houston Food Bank that feeds over 137,000 people per week. In 2013, the recipient was Noah's Kitchen, one of Houston's newest non-profits feeding, clothing and assisting the homeless.
-
Orange Show/Art Car Parade: An avid supporter of the Orange Show, mecca for folk art, Saint Arnold's iconic, tie-dye painted, '57 Bentley has been seen driving the streets and proudly tooting its horn in the parade for years.
