Lavender Shower Steamers |
|
|
-
2 c. baking soda
-
1 c. citric acid
-
lavender essential oil
-
witch hazel (in a spray/spritz bottle for wetting the mix)
-
rubber gloves
-
round or oval molds available at craft stores
|
Instructions:
1. Mix the baking soda and citric acid in a bowl. Add about 50 ‑ 60 drops of essential oil, one drop at a time until you achieve your desired fragrance.
2. Mist the witch hazel over the mixture several times, and stir vigorously with a fork to bind the ingredients. With gloved hands, squeeze mixture together. It should be wet but not so much so that it starts fizzing. Firmly pack by pressing mix tightly into molds, using your fingers. Put aside a half hour or longer. Tap mold to extract steamers. Let sit 2 or more hours to dry. Pack into air‑tight containers to preserve scent.
To use: Place near the edge of the tub or shower stall when taking a shower. Keep out of the direct water stream, but sitting in a damp area is ideal—enjoy the relaxing aroma! Makes 5 ‑ 6 steamers depending on mold size, each steamer may last up to two showers. |
