Turmeric Infused Basmati Rice

Ingredients

Recipe makes 6 Servings

1/4 cup(s) 4th & Heart Ghee, or extra virgin olive oil if preferred
2 Tbsp shallot(s), finely diced or minced
1 Tsp fresh organic turmeric, grated fine or 1/2 tsp dried turmeric
1 cup(s) The Real Co White Basmati Rice
1 3/4 cup(s) water

Instructions

Set a medium-sized pot with a tight fitting lid over medium heat.

Add ghee or oil and allow to get hot before adding shallots and turmeric. Sweat shallots until just fragrant but don't let them color.

Add rice and stir-fry for 4 to 6 minutes or until it just starts to smell nutty.

Add water, stir and scrape pan to release any bits stuck to bottom of pot.

Bring to a boil, cover with a tight fitting lid, and turn heat to low.

Cook for 12 to 15 minutes, or until all liquid has been absorbed. Turn off heat, keep covered, and allow to steam for at least 10 minutes.

Fluff rice with a fork, season to taste and serve.
