Instructions

1
Preheat oven to 350°F. Spray three, 9-inch round cake pans with nonstick spray and set aside.
2
In a large bowl, use eggs, water and oil to prepare cake mixes according to package directions.
3
Separate cake batter evenly between 3 medium bowls then add 1 tablespoon of different food coloring (purple, yellow or green) to each bowl so cakes are different colors. Mix well.
4
Pour colored batters into prepared pans and bake 30 to 35 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
5
Let cakes cool completely then remove from pans. Carefully cut tops off of cakes so they are flat and can be stacked.
6
Start with one cake and spread a thin layer of frosting on top. Add second cake on top of first, spread a thin layer of frosting on top and repeat with third cake.
7
Use remaining frosting to cover the sides and top of the cake. Decorate with candy sprinkles that are included with the frosting.
8
Chef's Note: Decorate with edible sugar skulls or Day of the Dead candies to personalize your cake.
