Keep refrigerated or frozen. Thaw in refrigerator or microwave. Keep raw meat separate from other foods. Wash working surfaces (including cutting boards), utensils and hands after touching raw meat. Cook thoroughly. Keep hot foods hot. Refrigerate leftovers immediately or discard.- Stovetop: Heat a large skillet over high heat for about 3 minutes. Spray skillet with nonstick cooking spray and add package of beef. Brown meat for 5 - 7 minutes, stirring frequently and breaking up pieces with a spoon. Add 2/3 cups of water, or for a spicier version, add a 10-oz can of diced tomatoes with green chiles. Bring carne guisada mixture to a boil, cover and reduce heat to medium-low. Cook for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Thicken carne guisada with a mixture of 2 Tbsp flour or corn starch and 1 cup of water. Add slowly to skillet, then cook for another 2 minutes or until desired gravy thickness is reached.
