  • Cooking & Serving Suggestions: Preheat a medium stock pot over high heat, add a little oil or butter to the pan and saute 1-2 lbs of meat or seafood for 2 minutes. Next, add Bayou Brother Gumbo Starter, plus 1-2 cups chicken broth or seafood broth (if desired, adding water to thin down the gumbo is OK), and bring to a quick boil, then reduce heat to medium, let simmer for 5-10 minutes or until meat or seafood is fully cooked. We recommend serving Bayou Brother Gumbo in a bowl, over rice, garnish with sliced green onion and maybe a shake or two of hot sauce! Bayou Brothers recommends the following proteins of your choice for our gumbo starter: andoulli sausage, chicken thighs, shrimp, crawfish, oysters, crab, redfish, and tilapia. Bayou Brother gumbo starter works great in your slow cooker.
