Description
Pre-cooked. Ready to heat and serve. Fat free. Wheat free. Gluten free. Polenta is a versatile alternative to pasta, bread or rice, and is especially suited for meat dishes that have plenty of sauce. In northern Italy, it's as popular as pasta in the south. Traditionally, the first cooking step required stirring for 40-45 minutes in a copper kettle over a hot fire. Pre-cooked Polenta eliminates this tedious chore, while preserving Polenta's ancient Italian heritage. There may be some water separation, this is normal. Certified organic by Quality Assurance International (QAI). USDA organic.

Ingredients
Water, Organic Yellow Corn Meal, Salt, Tartaric Acid (A Naturally Occurring Acid Used to Control pH), Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C), Beta Carotene (Vitamin A).- Serving Suggestions: Polenta is an excellent alternative to pasta, rice or potatoes. Since our polenta is already cooked, you simply need to heat it up to enjoy. Slice = inch thick rounds and microwave, saute, fry, bake, broil or grill. Top polenta with your favorite sauce, gravy or cheese. Substitute thin slices of polenta for pasta in your favorite lasagna recipe. Do the same with Southwestern ingredients (refried beans, green chili and cheese) to create a tamale pie to remember. Try replacing polenta in a recipe that calls for tofu. For soft polenta, heat desired amount in microwave, add small amount of liquid (water, milk, stock), and blend until you have the texture of mashed potatoes. Heat again and enjoy. Refrigerate after opening. Do not freeze.
