How To Make It
-
Select one of the pieces of construction paper for the inside of the card. Fold it in half width-wise.
-
Starting from the fold, draw half a heart or half a flower. This will be your pop-up. To ensure the pop-up stays tucked into the finished card, draw no further than the center of the page.
-
Using your scissors, cut along the line you just drew, starting from the fold, leaving a 1-inch part toward the center of the card uncut.
-
Open the card and push the pop-up inward, then refold the card so the pop-up folds one way and the card folds the other.
-
Take the second piece of construction paper and glue it to the back of the first, making sure you don't glue the pop-up. Then fold the card in half to close.
-
Let your kids decorate the card with markers or crayons. You can also help them use the glue stick to attach glitter or sequins.

Tips
-
Let your kids pick two different colors for their construction paper—one for the inside and one for the outside of the card.
-
To really personalize the card, your child can create their own design for the pop-up. Any design will work as long as you leave the outside of the pop-up shape attached to the card. Let them get creative!
-
Markers and crayons aren't the only way to color. Finger-paints and watercolor paints are wonderful ways to decorate these cards as well.
-
An adult should do the cutting for this project, but safety scissors are a good idea if your child wants to help.
