Toasted Pimento Cheese Dog

Serves 6

Ingredients

  • 6 Beef hot dogs
  • 2 oz Candied jalapenos
  • 6 Hot dog buns
  • 1/2 lb Pimento cheese, (fresh from the deli)
  • 2 oz Shredded cabbage

Instructions

  1. Set oven to broil (or hottest setting). Line a sheet pan with foil.
  2. Slice open hot dog buns and spread evenly with about 2 tablespoons pimento cheese spread on each half.
  3. While waiting for oven to heat, place hot dogs in a sauce pan and add just enough water to cover. Bring to a simmer and cook for 2 to 3 minutes. Set aside. Can also use microwave instructions if you prefer.
  4. Broil hot dog buns until cheese is melted and buns are toasted around the edges, about 2 minutes.
  5. Remove from oven. Place 1 hot dog in each bun and top with shredded cabbage and candied jalapenos.
