Serves 4
Ingredients
- 1 Small red cabbage, floppy outer leaves removed
- 2 tbsp Sesame seeds
- 1 tbsp Chinese five spice powder
- 1/4 cup Avocado oil, divided use
- 1 lb Swordfish steaks, 2 small steaks about 1 inch thick
- 1/4 cup Citrus teriyaki glaze
Instructions
- Slice cabbage into 1 inch thick slices through the middle stem to make cabbage "steaks." Set aside
- Mix together sesame seeds and five spice powder together in a shallow bowl. Gently wash swordfish steaks and pat dry with a paper towel. Press both sides into sesame seed mixture. Set aside
- Heat a large, heavy skillet over medium high heat. Add half of oil to pan. Gently lay cabbage steaks in pan. Season lightly with salt and pepper. Sear 3 minutes on each side, or until edges have a deep brown char. Remove to a serving plate.
- Add remaining oil to hot skillet and place coated swordfish steaks in pan. Cook for 4 to 5 minutes per side (depending on thickness of steaks). Remove pan from heat and drizzle with teriyaki sauce.
- Place swordfish steaks on cabbage and garnish with green onions and fresh cilantro, if desired.
