Sweet Potato Spiral Fries

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup Corn starch
  • 1/2 tsp Kosher salt, plus as needed for seasoning after frying
  • 1/4 tsp Ground black pepper, plus as needed for seasoning after frying
  • 1/4 tsp Garlic powder, plus as needed for seasoning after frying
  • 1/4 tsp Smoked paprika, plus as needed for seasoning after frying
  • 10.7 oz Sweet Potato Spirals

Instructions

  1. Place oil in a shallow pot and heat to 375°F.
  2. While oil is heating, combine cornstarch, salt, pepper, garlic powder and smoked paprika in a small bowl.
  3. Pour cornstarch mixture over sweet potato spirals in their container then reseal and shake until spirals are evenly coated. Shake off excess.
  4. Place a handful of sweet potato spirals in hot oil and using tongs, break them apart slowly. Fry 15 to 25 second or until crispy.
  5. Place fried spirals on paper towels to drain and season with salt and additional spices. Repeat until all spirals are fried.
  6. Chef's Note: This recipe pairs great with a spicy burger. For a lighter take and a great weeknight dinner side, sauté spirals with the same seasonings in a tablespoon of H-E-B Avocado Oil for 1 to 2 minutes over medium-high heat until tender.
