Salsa Morita

Ingredients

  • 5 Dried morita peppers, stemmed and seeded
  • 1 tsp Dried Mexican Oregano
  • 2 cups Water
  • 1 Fresh white onion, peeled and sliced in half
  • 2 Fresh Roma tomatoes, sliced in half
  • 3 Small fresh tomatillos, husks removed
  • 1 1/2 tsp Chicken Granulated Bouillon
  • 3 Peeled garlic cloves

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, combine morita peppers, Mexican oregano, and water. Bring to a simmer and simmer for 15 minutes.
  2. Meanwhile, heat a cast iron skillet over high heat until smoking. Add onion, tomatoes, and tomatillos. Char vegetables, turning occasionally.
  3. Combine morita peppers and water with charred vegetables, chicken bouillon, and garlic in a blender. Blend until smooth. Season with salt to taste.
