Salsa à la Pizza

Ingredients

  • 28 oz Canned crushed tomatoes with basil
  • 1 1/2 tsp Kosher or sea salt, or as needed to taste
  • 2 tbsp Extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tsp Dried oregano, or as needed to taste

Instructions

  1. Empty tomatoes into a bowl and gently crush, removing and discarding seeds from each. Place all tomato pulp back into bowl along with any collected juices.
  2. Add salt, olive oil and oregano and whisk to combine. Season to taste as needed.
  3. Transfer to a plastic container, seal and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow flavors to meld before using.
  4. Chef's Note: Best for use use on pizza, but additionally it can be added to give body to soups for added flavor.
