Quick and Easy Tortas Ahogadas

Serves 4

Ingredients

  • 4 Bolillos
  • 1 lb Fully Cooked Pork Carnitas
  • 4 oz H-E-B That Red Sauce
  • 4 oz Canned tomato sauce
  • 4 tbsp H-E-B Refried Charro Beans
  • 2 tbsp Water
  • 2 cups Shredded cabbage
  • 1 Lime, quartered
  • 1/4 cup Cotija cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400ºF. Place bolillos on a baking sheet and bake 5 minutes or until hot and crusty.
  2. Microwave fully cooked pork according to package instructions.
  3. In a microwave safe dish, mix That Red Sauce with tomato sauce. In a separate microwave safe dish, mix refried beans with water. Microwave both on high heat for 1 minute or until heated through.
  4. Slice bolillos down the middle then spread cut sides with refried beans. Top with pork and place sandwiches on plates.
  5. Pour tomato sauce mixture evenly over each sandwich and serve with shredded cabbage, lime wedges and cheese.
