Homemade Dutch Apple Pie

Ingredients
- 4 oz Unsalted butter, softened at room temperature
- 1 cup All purpose flour
- 1/2 cup Old fashioned oats
- 2 tbsp Vanilla bean paste, divided use
- 1/2 cup Brown sugar
- 1 tsp Ground cinnamon
- 2 tsp Fine sea salt, divided use
- 4 Envy apples, Approximately 4 to 5 medium apples, peeled, cored, cut in half and thinly sliced
- 1 tbsp Apple pie spice
- 1/4 cup Cornstarch
- 1 cup Granulated sugar
- 1 tbsp Fresh squeezed lemon juice
- 8 oz Frozen pie crust, 1 frozen crust, does not need to be thawed
Instructions
- In a bowl combine butter, flour, oats, 1 tablespoon of vanilla bean paste, brown sugar, cinnamon, and 1 teaspoon of salt.
- Blend everything together by hand until mixture is crumbly. Refrigerate for 10 minutes while preparing apples.
- Preheat oven to 350ºF. Line a sheet pan with parchment paper.
- In a bowl combine apples, apple pie spice, cornstarch, remaining vanilla bean paste, sugar, remaining salt, and lemon juice. Toss well to evenly incorporate.
- Place frozen pie shell on prepared sheet pan Pour apples into pie shell and evenly distribute.
- Remove streusel topping from fridge and crumble evenly over apples to completely cover.
- Bake for 45 to 60 minutes until apples are tender when a toothpick is inserted in the center.
- Remove from oven and place on a rack for at least 4 hours to allow pie to completely cool and set up before cutting and serving.
