Grilled Lamb Steak Gyros

Serves 4

Ingredients

  • 1 Bone in lamb leg steak, cut 3/4-inch thick
  • 3 1/2 tsp Fresh lemon juice, juiced, reserve 1/2 teaspoon
  • 1 tbsp Greek seasoning
  • 1/2 cup Nonfat plain yogurt
  • 1/2 Cucumber, seeded and chopped
  • 1/4 tsp Fresh Mint, chopped
  • 1/2 tsp Dill weed, chopped
  • 4 Wheat pita, follow
  • 2 cups Red Leaf Lettuce, shredded
  • 1 Medium tomato, chopped
  • 1/2 cup Red onions, chopped
  • 1/2 cup Reduced fat feta cheese

Instructions

  1. Heat grill to medium heat.
  2. Sprinkle both sides of steak with lemon juice and Greek seasoning and let stand 5 minutes.
  3. Combine yogurt, 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice, cucumber, mint and dill in a bowl and set aside.
  4. Grill steak over medium coals 10 to 14 minutes until internal temperature reaches 150°F.
  5. Microwave pita bread just before serving to soften.
  6. Cut pitas in half and slice steak into thin strips.
  7. Fill each pita with steak, then top with yogurt mixture, lettuce, tomato, onion and feta cheese.
