Easy Stuffed Cheese Burgers

Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb Thick sliced bacon, cooked until crispy
  • 1 Jalapeño peppers, seeds removed and chopped
  • 1 1/3 lb Ground beef
  • 4 Hamburger buns
  • 8 oz Sharp cheddar thick cut shreds

Instructions

  1. Preheat grill or place a skillet over medium-high heat. Preheat oven to 400ºF.
  2. Meanwhile, hollow out top half of buns to create a shell. Discard removed bread.
  3. Place hollowed out buns on a baking sheet and fill each with 2 ounces of cheese. Set aside.
  4. Place hamburger meat and chopped jalapeño in a bowl, and mix slightly to combine. Form meat into 1/3 pound patties.
  5. Grill patties about 3 minutes per side or until cooked to desired doneness. For a crispy patty, use a non-stick skillet and flatten patties with a spatula for a few seconds during the last minute of cooking on each side.
  6. While burgers cook, bake filled buns about 5 minutes or until cheese is melted and buns start to slightly brown. Place bottom buns on same sheet tray and bake another minute then remove all buns.
  7. To build each burger, place a patty on a bottom bun, add a few bacon slices and top with a cheese filled bun.
  8. Chef's Tip: This method of filling the bun with cheese is great for chili burgers with corn chips or a traditional burger with lettuce and tomato.
