Donut Burger

Serves 4

Ingredients

  • 1 tsp Espresso instant coffee
  • 4 slices American cheese
  • 1 lb Ground beef, formed into 4 patties, 1/4 inch thick
  • 4 Center cut bacon, cooked
  • 4 Glazed donuts, cut in half horizontally like a bun

Instructions

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium-high. Add patties and sprinkle with salt, pepper and powdered espresso. Cook 3 to 4 minutes, then flip, repeat seasoning, top with cheese; cook an additional 3 minutes.
  2. Remove from pan and set aside. Reduce heat to low and add donuts cut-side down to pan and toast. Cook until all 8 pieces have been toasted; remove from pan.
  3. Build burgers to taste using the donuts as the bun. Top with bacon and your favorite condiments.
  4. Chef's Note: Breakfast sausage can be used in place of beef and topped with a fried egg.
