Charred Green Beans with Soy and Orange Peel

Serves 4

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp Sesame oil
  • 2 tbsp Canola oil
  • 2 tbsp Garlic cloves, very thinly sliced
  • 1 Medium Orange, peel only
  • 1/2 tsp Crushed red pepper flakes, as needed for spice
  • 16 oz French green beans, washed and dried
  • 3 tbsp Soy sauce, plus more as needed

Instructions

  1. Place a large non-stick pan or wok over medium-high heat.
  2. Add oils and allow to just get hot, add garlic, orange peel and chili flakes. Stir-fry for 30 to 45 seconds before adding green beans.
  3. Stir-fry everything for another 2 to 3 minutes before adding soy sauce. Turn off heat and cover with a lid.
  4. Allow to steam until green beans are just tender but still have crunch. Season to taste with more soy sauce or salt and pepper as desired.
  5. Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions if desired.
