Basil Garlic Pesto Crostini

Ingredients

  • 4 Garlic cloves
  • 1/4 cup Blanched slivered almonds
  • 1/2 cup Extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 Baguette bread, sliced 1-inch thick
  • 1 cup Shredded parmesan cheese, shredded
  • 1 No-stick vegetable oil cooking spray
  • 8 oz Cream cheese bar
  • 1 cup Fresh basil, stems removed

Instructions

  1. Heat oven to 450°F.
  2. Spray a large baking sheet with non-stick cooking spray and arrange the slices of bread on the baking sheet.
  3. Toast the bread in the hot oven for 5 minutes on each side.
  4. Combine the garlic cloves and almonds in a food processor or blender and process the almond mixture for 10 seconds until ingredients are finely chopped.
  5. Add the olive oil and basil to the almond mixture and process or blend for 10 seconds more.
  6. Add the Parmesan cheese and process 5 more seconds.
  7. Set mixture aside.
  8. Spread 2 teaspoons cream cheese on each bread slice and top with 2 teaspoons basil pesto.
