Ingredients

  • 1 qt Shallot, trimmed and quartered or if small enough, simply peel and cut in half
  • 1/4 cup Extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tsp Granulated sugar
  • 1/2 tsp Kosher salt, plus more as needed to taste for serving
  • 1 tsp Thyme, leaves only chopped

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine shallots, olive oil, sugar, salt, thyme and balsamic vinegar. Toss well to coat shallots.
  2. Place shallots along with all juices on Air Fryer sheet tray lined with foil. Place tray in lowest rack in Air Fryer and set to Chicken setting (400ºF for 25 minutes).
  3. Give shallots a toss every 5 to 7 minutes to make sure they are browning evenly.
  4. Once shallots are nicely caramelized, remove from oven, rest for 15 to 20 minutes then add a little more balsamic vinegar and season to taste.
  5. Chef's Note: Serve alongside grilled steak or chicken, or add to your favorite slow cooked stews for extra richness.
