Air Fryer Chicken Fried Steak

Ingredients

  • 1 Large brown eggs, beaten
  • 1/2 cup 1% milkfat buttermilk
  • 1 cup Unbleached all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp Baking powder
  • 1/2 cup Seltzer water
  • 1 cup Japanese style plain panko bread crumbs
  • 1 tsp All purpose grilling seasoning
  • 1 lb New York strip steak
  • 5 3/4 qt Air fryer

Instructions

  1. Add egg, buttermilk, flour and baking powder to a small bowl and whisk together.
  2. Add seltzer and gently whisk until batter is smooth.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix together bread crumbs and rib rub.
  4. Cut steak in half and dip individually in batter and then coat with bread crumb mixture.
  5. Place in air fryer cooking basket and cook at 370ºF for 8 to 10 minutes total or until golden brown on each side (use tongs to gently turn over about halfway through).
  6. Serve with mashed potatoes, green beans and gravy if desired.
  7. Chef's Note: Please note that the directions for this recipe were tested in a large (5.5 qt) air fryer. Time and temperature may vary for other air fryers.
