Preparation instructions

Combine the rice, water and butter (optional) in a pot with a tight-fitting lid. Bring it to a boil, stir it once, and cover it with the lid. Reduce the heat to a simmer and cook for 20 minutes. Remove from heat and let stand in the covered pot for 10 minutes. Fluff with fork and salt to taste (optional). Servings: 2-3: 1/2 cup rice (dry), 1 cup water or broth, 1-1/2 tsp butter, oil or margarine (optional). 4-6: 1 cup rice (dry), 2 cups water or broth, 1 tbsp butter, oil or margarine (optional). 8-10: 2 cups rice (dry), 4 cups water or broth, 2 tbsp butter, oil or margarine (optional). Seal after opening to preserve freshness. Store in a cool, dry place.
