- Open Pan Method: Rice: 1 cup (200 g). Water: For soaking 1 cup (200 ml), For boiling 6-8 cups (1200-1600 ml). Salt: 1 pinch (1/4 tsp). 1. Rinse & soak rice with water for 25-30 minutes. 2. Add the drained rice into an uncovered pan containing 6-8 cups of boiling water. Stir gently once and continue to boil for 8-10 minutes. Turn off heat & drain the water from the pan. 3. Immediately cover the pan and allow rice remain in the pan for 2-3 minutes before serving. Covered Pan Method: Rice: 1 cup (200 g). Water: For soaking 1 cup (200 ml), For cooking 2 cups (400 ml). Salt 1 pinch (1/4 tsp). 1. Rinse & soak rice with water for 25-30 minutes. 2. Pour water & rice in the ratio of 2:1 in a flat bottomed (2-3 quart) pan and bring to boil. 3. Stir gently and apply lid. Simmer for 10 minutes at low heat. Turn off heat if water has dried. Remove from heat and let rice remain covered for 5 minutes. Fluff rice before serving. Microwave Method: Rice: 1 cup (200 g). Water: For soaking 1 cup (200 ml), For cooking 2 cups (400 ml). Salt: 1 pinch (1/4 tsp). 1. Rinse & soak rice with water for 25-30 minutes. 2. Place rice in the microwave container or casserole dish & add water in it. 3. Cover with plastic wrap (or with cover) and cook on full power (500 w) for 15 minutes. 4. Drain water and place rice in microwave for 3 minutes. Fluff rice gently before serving.
