Couscous (Precooked Whole Durum Wheat Semolina, Durum Semolina).Allergens and safety warnings
Contains wheat ingredients.- Range Top Directions: Servings (About 1 Cup Cooked): 1 Serving: 1/3 cup couscous, uncooked; 1/3 cup water, broth or juice; 1 pinch salt (optional); 1 tsp olive oil or butter. 2 Servings: 2/3 cup couscous, uncooked; 3/4 cup water, broth or juice; 1/4 tsp salt (optional); 2 tsp olive oil or butter. About 4 Servings: 1 box couscous, uncooked; 1-1/2 cups water, broth or juice; 1/2 tsp salt (optional); 1 tbsp olive oil or butter. 1. In medium sauce pan, bring water, salt (optional) and olive oil or butter just to a boil. 2. Stir in couscous; cover. 3. Remove from heat; let stand 5 minutes. 4. Fluff couscous lightly with fork before serving. See side panel for microwave, low fat and high altitude directions. Microwave Directions: 1. In round 2-quart microwaveable glass casserole, combine water and salt (optional). Refer to range top directions chart for water and salt measurements. 2. Microwave at high until boiling, about 1-2 minutes for 1 serving, 4-5 minutes for 2 servings, or 6-7 minutes for the entire box. (Microwave ovens may vary. Adjust times as needed.) 3. Add couscous and olive oil or butter; stir. Cover; let stand 5 minutes. 4. Fluff couscous lightly with fork before serving. Low Fat Directions: Plain Wheat Couscous is low in fat as prepared following package directions. High Altitude Preparation: At high altitudes, prepare entire box as directed above except increase water to 2 cups. Variations: For a creative twist, add one of the following to prepared couscous: 1/4 cup chopped sun-dried tomatoes and 1/2 cup thinly sliced green onions; 1 cup diced tomatoes, 1/2 cup cooked chopped zucchini and 1/2 cup cooked chopped broccoli; 2 tablespoons tomato juice, 2 teaspoons fresh or 1 teaspoon dried dill and 1/4 cup sliced black olives.
