How to Choose a Turkey
Consider the number of people you’re serving and select one that’s big enough to allow for 2 lbs uncooked turkey per person.

Estimated Oven-Roasting Time at 325°F:
8 – 12 lbs: 1-¼ – 2-¼ hours
12 – 14 lbs: 2-¼ - 2-¾ hours

  • Oven: Preheat oven to 325°F. Remove packaging from turkey. Remove the plastic clip by pulling the top piece outwards away from the turkey and twisting or cutting it. Remove the metal clip by squeezing the wires together. Remove the neck from the chest cavity and the giblets from the neck cavity.

    Place the turkey breast-side up in a pan and add 2 – 4 cups of water or broth. Place pan in oven. When the turkey turns golden-brown, place a tent of foil loosely over turkey. Turkey is done when a meat thermometer inserted in the thigh reads 160°F – 165°F. Let turkey rest for about 30 minutes before carving.
