  • Add whole chicken, chicken parts, or boneless skinless breasts to 5 quarts of water seasoned with salt or garlic salt and pepper. Boil chicken 40 minutes. Remove poultry from the pot, cut or tear it into small boneless, skinless pieces and set aside. Add Dumplings: Bring remaining broth to a boil. Break the frozen dumplings strips into desired size (usually 3rds) and drop into broth one at a time stirring frequently. If necessary add more water. Simmer: After all the dumplings have been added, cover and reduce heat. Simmer for 45 minutes stirring occasionally. Add Chicken: Return chicken to the pot, remove from heat and let stand for 10 minutes before serving. Hint: For a thicker broth add cream of chicken soup, chicken base or a little corn starch. Easy: Use canned chicken or precooked chicken! Thicker Dumplings: Allow completed chicken and dumplings to continue to simmer longer at low heat. Keep frozen solid.
