    Allergens and safety warnings

Toxoplasmosis Warning: Customers, especially pregnant women and persons with suppressed immune systems, should always remember to thoroughly wash their hands after handling used cat litter. Cat feces can sometimes transmit a disease called toxoplasmosis. For further information, consult your doctor. Unused cat litter does not pose a toxoplasmosis threat. Do not flush litter into the toilet or any septic system. This can clog pipes and affect water quality. Do not dispose of used cat litter and cat waste into a garden or a compost pile due to potential pathogens in cat's waste. Do not use this product as a traction aid, as it becomes slippery when wet. Wash hands thoroughly after handling used cat litter.
  • Start with a clean, empty litter box and add cat litter to a depth of 3 to 4 inches. Remove the hard clumps of soiled litter from the litter box with a scoop in a daily basis and dispose of the clumps in a trash receptacle. Replenish the cat litter box to maintain a depth of 3 to 4 inches. After approximately four weeks, depending on the number of cats using the litter box and overall condition of the remaining litter, dispose of the entire cat litter box contents into a trash receptacle. Thoroughly clean and dry the litter box and add 3 to 4 inches of cat litter. To minimize tracking litter from the litter box, use a high-sided, rimmed or covered cat litter box and place a mat or rug around the outside of the litter box. Do not flush clumps into the toilet or any septic system. Store cat litter in a cool, dry place.
