  • BUTTERMILK BISCUITS Prep Time: 15 min. Bake Time: 20 min. 2 cups All Purpose Flour 3 teaspoons Hill Country Fare Baking Powder 1/2 teaspoon Salt 2 Tablespoons Sugar 1/3 cup Vegetable Shortening 3/4 cup Buttermilk 1. Heat oven to 425°F. Use an ungreased baking sheet. 2. Combine the flour, baking powder, salt, sugar and shortening in a food processor bowl. Pulse the flour mixture for 5 to 10 seconds or until mixture looks like coarse crumbs. 3. Add the cold buttermilk, and pulse the biscuit dough for 5 to 10 seconds. Do not over mix or knead the dough. 4. Sprinkle a Tablespoon of flour on a work surface and gently roll out the dough. Cut the dough into biscuits 1 or 2 inches in diameter. Gently press the remaining dough scraps into round biscuits of the same size. 5. Place the biscuits on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 20 minutes. Makes: 12 biscuits
