Description

A raw form of cane sugar, H-E-B Mi Tienda Piloncillo comes in handy as a sweetener and as a spice. Shaped like a cone, it melts easily and can be used in many Mexican drinks and desserts, like atole and flan. To break off some sugar from the cone, carefully cut some slivers or chunks with a knife, or use a grater if you're using it as a brown sugar substitute. Piloncillo is made by crushing sugarcane and reserving the juice, which is then boiled, reduced to a thick syrup and poured into a cone mold and dried.
