  • To Make Stuffing: Makes about 8 cups.

    20 oz H-E-B Stuffing Starter Mix
    6 cups white bread
    6 cups wheat bread
    2 cups sliced mushrooms
    1 - 2 eggs
    6 Tbsp butter
    2 - 4 cups chicken broth
    1 tsp salt
    ½ tsp black pepper

    Sauté stuffing starter mix in butter, along with mushrooms, for about 8 - 10 minutes. Crumble or cut toasted white and wheat bread into ¼" to ½" chunks — enough to equal 12 cups total. Toss bread chunks into the sautéed vegetable mixture and season with salt and pepper. Add one well-beaten egg and up to 4 cups of chicken broth. Mix well. Add an additional egg for moister stuffing. Bake in a greased pan at 350˚F for 50 - 55 minutes.
