The History of Mineral Wells, Texas
In 1877, James and Armanda Lynch settled in what would eventually become the city of Mineral Wells, Texas. The family drilled a well and began experiencing "healing properties" and "remission of their rheumatoid symptoms." In 1904, Ed Dismuke founded the Famous Mineral Water Company after determining that the special mineral water helped alleviate his life-threatening disease.
During the beginning of the 20th century, tourists flocked to Mineral Wells to experience the healing waters in the town’s bathhouses, drinking pavilions and spas. In 2012, Carol and Scott Elder revived the Famous Mineral Water Company, which is now the manufacturer of the brand Crazy Water and also 1877 by H-E-B.
