Contains: wheat, soy, milk. Manufactured on shared equipment with products containing: eggs, walnuts, peanuts.- First: Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Soften (but do not melt) 1 stick (1/2 cup) of butter in microwave. Mix: In a large bowl, combine cookie mix, softened butter, and 1 egg until moistened. Mix until a dough forms. At first dough will appear dry, but after 30 seconds of mixing, it will come together. Tint: Divide dough into four equal pieces and place them into individual bowls. Next, use a spoon to make a small indentation on top of each piece. Carefully slip a small corner from each food coloring packet, then squeeze the following amounts into the dough indentations you made: Yellow: 1/8 tsp (half packet). Orange: remainder of yellow packet plus 5 drops of red. Red: remainder of red packet. Blue: 7 drops. Using a spoon, thoroughly stir coloring into the dough until it becomes a solid color. To keep the dough colors bright, wash the spoon after each mixing. Shape: Roll about 1 tsp. of dough from each bowl into ball shapes and place into two rows. Pinch the dough balls together. Roll dough into a rope about 10-12 inches (25-30 cm) long. Tip: If dough begins to feel too soft, sprinkle some flour onto the rolling surface. Coil the rope into a spiral shape, slightly twisting it as you wind it around the center. Repeat steps for remainder of the dough. Bake: Place cookies about 2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until edges turn lightly golden brown. Do not overbake. Cool 1 minute before removing from cookie sheet. Cool completely. Makes about 2 dozen cookies.
