  • Deep Fried Mushrooms: Preheat: Deep fryer to 360 degrees F. Pour: Package of Don's Chuck Wagon Golden Mushroom Batter Mix into large mixing bowl. Rinse: 14-16 oz. of mushrooms. Toss into dry mix. Dust completely; shake off excess. Batter: Combine 1/2 cup dry mix from mixing bowl with 1/3 cup of cold water and stir to smooth consistency. Insert wooden toothpick into mushroom. Dip: Dusted mushrooms into batter mix. Coat each mushroom well. Drain off excess batter and remove toothpick. Immediately drop mushrooms, one at a time, into hot shortening. Cook: Approximately 1-1/2 minutes, turning until golden brown. Drain on paper towels. Onion Rings: Preheat: Deep fryer to 375 degrees F. Combine: 1 cup of dry mix with 3/4 cup cold water. Stir to smooth batter. Batter: Dip rings into batter mix; drop into preheated shortening. Turn rings once immediately. Fry: Until both side are golden brown (about 2-1/2 minutes). Drain on paper towels.
