This can be easily done using our new Digital Imaging Service: Send them directly to the Photo Lab. return to the top What types of files are accepted at the website? H-E-B Digital Photo accepts pictures that are JPEG (.jpg) or TIFF (.tif) format. If your image is in another format, you'll need to convert it by using a graphics utility program. return to the top How does file size or resolution affect final photo quality? The quality of the final print is directly affected by file size and resolution. Here are some suggested file size recommendations:
Tip: 1000 kb = 1 mb return to the top How can I know for sure that my file will produce a good quality image? When you are creating your order, as you add images and choose print sizes, the software will automatically assign a color code to your image. Red means the image file will not reproduce well in the size requested. Yellow means the file size is acceptable. Green means the file size is excellent for the size print selected. While this is not an exact science, the color-coding should be used as a guideline when ordering prints. return to the top Can I still make a print or enlargement from a low-resolution image? You can still request a print from a smaller digital file, but be aware that the final image may appear "pixilated." This means that subjects or items in the picture may appear jagged or blurry and the overall image quality is compromised. return to the top Why does my image look great on my computer screen but not in the printed photo? Again, this relates back to image file size. Some digital images look great on the computer screen because the screen corrects and resizes the image for the best display as a digital, electronic image. However, when these same images are printed on photo paper, they are resized differently to make a final photo print. It is virtually impossible to make a print look exactly as the image looks on the computer screen. return to the top Why are the edges of my subjects cut off on the final picture? Just as on traditional film reprints and enlargements, some natural cropping occurs when the print is made. Even with digital images, a few of the same film rules apply. Digital images somewhat resemble images from 35mm negatives (which are rectangular). You will be more likely to get a full-framed photo when ordering a 4 x 6, 8 x 12, or 24 x 36, since these dimensions are more rectangular. Images made into 3 x 5, 5 x 7, or 20 x 30 will realize some slight cropping. Image sizes that are 11 x 14 and 16 x 20 will yield a severely cropped image because these dimensions force the image into a slightly unnatural square shape. When shooting a group picture or larger subject, leave enough space around the image for any cropping that may occur. return to the top Is it possible to achieve high-quality photo prints at home? Unless you are using traditional photographic machinery at home to print your digital images, you can be assured that the prints from H-E-B Digital Photo are indeed the highest quality possible. At home, your images are printed using inkjets and inkjet photo paper. At H-E-B, the digital image is projected onto traditional photographic paper and processed with photographic chemistry. You would not be able to achieve the same results unless you created an entire small photo lab in your home! return to the top |
