It’s salmon season in Alaska! That means H-E-B is bringing you the freshest wild Alaskan Salmon available (anywhere South of Alaska that is). To ensure quality and freshness, we partner with a fleet of vessels fishing the icy, pristine waters of Alaska. The harvest is immediately processed, inspected for quality, and flown in fresh, never frozen.
This year’s season kicks off with wild King Salmon, the largest of the Alaska Salmon. King Salmon is prized for its bright red color, succulent flavor, and delicate texture. We’ll follow the season from the Taku and Stikine Rivers to the Copper River, Kenai Peninsula and the Cook Inlet.
Next, we bring you the smallest most delicate Alaska Salmon, our wild Sockeye Salmon. With its rich red color, robust flavor and firm texture, Sockeye is often the salmon of choice. Sockeye season will open at the Copper River and follow with the Kodiak, Bristol Bay, Cook Inlet and Prince William Sound areas.
Our season closes with wild Coho Salmon, known for its orange-red color and superior texture. Coho season starts with the Cook Inlet and then moves to the Taku and Copper Rivers.

ALL ABOUT OMEGA-3’s:
The American Heart Association and the American Diabetes Association recommend eating fish, particularly oil-rich fish like salmon, at least two times a week in order to obtain adequate amounts of omega-3 fatty acids. Omega-3 fatty acids are highly polyunsaturated fatty acids that lower triglycerides, reduce abnormal heart rhythms, reduce blood pressure and improve blood clotting regulation. Omega-3 fatty acids have also been linked to improvements in or prevention of certain kinds of cancer, ulcerative colitis, psoriasis, arthritis, asthma, certain kinds of mental illness and depression.
Eating oil-rich fish like salmon, mackerel, trout, herring, sardines and tuna is a safe and effective way to obtain the benefits of omega-3s.
